What's Up ?!?

Cynthia is finishing up a new track, a remake of Marisol’s “Why Can’t You Tell Me”.   The cut is produced by Frankie Cutlass, with edits by Dave “The One” Mendez, and features background vocals by George Lamond, Coro and Evelyn from the Cover Girls.  The remake is the first track for Frankie’s new Urban Dance movement. Marisol’s original version of “Why Can’t You Tell Me” was produced by Willie Valentin, and first appeared on the Artistik Freestyle Parade 2K1 Vol. 1.
Exposé former lead singer, Gioia's new album Expose This (Koch Records) came out recently and is great! For more info, check out also her website www.gioiabruno.net.

At press time, Corina was set to perform in a one-woman off-Broadway show, that she wrote, entitled “Fear and All of Me,”
an autobiographical look at life, growing up in the Bronx and East Harlem. Shows were scheduled at the Teatro La Tea October 5th to 10th.

We have more scoop from the Bay Area California. Unique Elementz label owner Tony B. has two new artists Mari Poza and Galvatron that are looking to make some noise, real soon. They are all currently in the studio with Slammin’ Sam, and should have some new releases early 2005.  Mari Poza’s debut track "Infamous Lover" is out now on promotional 12” wax.

Quick on the heals of their latest installment of the popular Masters of Freestyle compilation series, Gold Edition Volume 4Pandisc Records has another star-studded compilation coming out: A Night at Casanovas, mixed by DJ Ciro Llerena.  The compilation pays homage to the legendary Casanovas night club located in Hialeah, Florida.  From the late 70s to the early 90s, hundreds of acts including Madonna, Vickie Sue Robinson, The Village People, Sheila E, France Joli, and Lime, performed there. The turntables were manned by DJ Carlos "No Show" Nodal, who eventually nurtured an underage protégé – a 14-year-old Ciro Llerena. According to Bo Crane, of Pandisc this CD “represents a musical snapshot of a typical Saturday night set as mixed by DJ Ciro Llerena…Volume One is heavy on the Freestyle music that ruled the dance floor during the later years of Casanovas run."

We received two interesting notices of invitation recently.  The first was from legendary producer Carlos “After Dark” Berrios (“Together Forever”, “He’s My Baby Now”) with an open call for new artists to apply for future production work. “As much as I've said that I would never produce another Freestyle Record, I find myself wanting to step into that water again. For old times sake. The new music seems to lack the fundamentals of a hit, which I've always believed to be the combination of a well produced track and vocal. So out of pure curiosity and a need for fun, I'm offering the following. I will personally produce a pure freestyle track (New School or Old School) for any artist that wishes to work with me. For a track Produced, Vocals recorded, Mix and even Edits by me.  I'll charge the fee of $1,250.” Contact Carlos at berriosfilms@earthlink.net for more information, and good luck!

Second was from recording artist Eva, offering a unique opportunity for you to become an Executive Producer ( i.e. investor) on her new single recording project. Eva has been featured on various compilations over the years, and released a full length album in 2002.  Now she is asking for donations to support production and travel expenses. In return - receive an autographed Eva CD single with unreleased mixes, updates on the new song’s progress, and once it is finished you will receive a copy of the new song and recognition as an Executive Producer. Donations in any amount are accepted.  For even the smallest donation you will achieve name listing as an Executive Producer on the single.   Eva says she is recording with a “pioneer in the music business and a producer who has achieved numerous top ten Billboard hits.  The song is going to be a radio friendly upbeat song with catchy lyrics (fun to sing along with) and a beat you can dance to”. Donations arrangements can be made by mail at EDM Entertainment c/o Eva P.O. Box 12566 Hamtramck, MI 48212 or you can email Eva at edm25@usa.com or soulspirit@nycmail.com for more information.
